I have attended the student event the past two years, where I have been able to meet other students from all across the United States. Being a member also allows me to access the Journal of Periodontology and having the literature in PDF files is extremely helpful to prepare for my seminars. Lastly, by specializing we are joining a small community of professionals whose profession can only be sustained through the involvement of its members.

Being a first-year periodontal resident, I was very fortunate to have my first AAP meeting in Hawaii. What a great way to begin a relationship. The meeting far exceeded my initial expectations. Having the opportunity to network with my future periodontal colleagues both nationally and internationally was a highlight of the trip. I look forward to the opportunity of getting involved and giving back to the organization as so many have done before me.
