from the AAP
2007 recipient of a Fellowship Award
CHICAGO—October 30, 2007—Cheryl Townsend, DDS, MSD, who maintains a private practice in Bellevue, Washington, is a 2007 recipient of the American Academy of Periodontology’s (AAP) Fellowship Award.
“Dr. Townsend received the award today at the AAP’s 93rd Annual Meeting in Washington, DC for the extensive amount of work she contributed to the Academy,” said Preston D. Miller, Jr., DDS, and 2006-2007 president of the AAP.
The Fellowship Award is given annually in recognition of distinguished service to the Academy in more than one area. The award is funded by Procter & Gamble Professional Oral Health.
Dr. Townsend has served the AAP in many capacities including as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the Journal of Periodontology, the Finance Committee, and as Chair of the task force to create the Academy’s position on risk assessment. She has also completed two terms as an AAP Board of Trustees member.
