Rochester Periodontist Installed as AAP President

Jack G. Caton is a professor at the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center and a private periodontal practitioner in Rochester, New York.

CHICAGO – September 27, 1999 – The American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) installed Jack G. Caton, D.D.S., M.S., as president today during its 85th Annual Meeting in San Antonio. He is a professor at the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center and a private periodontal practitioner in Rochester, N.Y.

An AAP member since 1970, Caton has served on several key committees for the Academy, including Planning, Continuing Education and Finance. He is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation board of directors. He also has served as director and chairman of the American Board of Periodontology and as director for the Monroe County Dental Society and the Seventh District Dental Society of New York.

In addition, he currently serves as associate editor for the Journal of Periodontal Research and as an editorial consultant to the Journal of Periodontology.

Caton received his dental degree in 1967 from the University of California in San Francisco, his certificate in advanced general dentistry in 1968 from the U.S. Army, and his postdoctoral training certification in 1973 from Eastman Dental Center. He attained American Board of Periodontology diplomate status in 1981.
