Florida Periodontist Installed as AAP Vice President

Samuel B. Low is Associate Dean of the Department of Periodontology at the University of Florida.

CHICAGO–October 30, 2007—The American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) installed Samuel B. Low, DDS, as secretary/treasurer today at its 93rd Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.

Samuel LowAn AAP member since 1975, Low has served on the Board of Trustees, Planning Committee, and Education Committee, and participated in World Workshops.

In addition to his work with the Academy, he is also a delegate to the American Dental Association and past president of the Florida Dental Association and Florida Association of Periodontists, and serves as an Associate Faculty member for the Pankey Institute.

“Dr. Low has had an outstanding year on the Executive Committee and as he takes on this new position I’m sure that he will continue to help guide both the AAP and periodontal profession toward the future,” said Preston D. Miller, Jr., DDS and 2006-2007 AAP president.

Low received his dental degree, specialty training in periodontics and MS in biomedical science from University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston and his masters in education from University of Florida College of Education in 1973, 1975 and 1980 respectively.
