AAP Foundation Elects Lawrence W. Farrell to Its Board

CHICAGO – November 5, 2001 – The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation elected Lawrence W. Farrell to its board of directors October 5 at its annual meeting in Philadelphia. Farrell is vice president, corporate professional relations/oral technologies, for John O. Butler Company in Chicago.

Farrell serves on numerous boards, including the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Board of Fellows, the Board of Directors for Temple University School of Dentistry, the ADA Health Foundation Board of Directors, the UCLA School of Dentistry Board of Directors, and the University of California, San Francisco, School of Dentistry Board of Overseers. He is also a council member of the International Federation for Dental Educators and a member of the American Association of Public Health Dentists.

Farrell received his B.S. in statistics from the University of Cincinnati and his M.B.A. from Xavier University in Cincinnati. From 1990 to 1997 Farrell was assistant professor in the Department of Community Dentistry at Temple University School of Dentistry. He was also adjunct professor, Department of Continuing Education, University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Dentistry. He is an honorary fellow of the Academy of Dental and Facial Esthetics, and of the Academy of Dentistry International.

The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation is dedicated to improving the periodontal health of the public by increasing public and professional awareness of periodontal diseases; stimulating and supporting clinical research and the generation of new knowledge; and enhancing educational programs and opportunities in periodontology. Periodontics is one of nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association.
