AAP Foundation Elects Jack G. Caton to Board

CHICAGO – October 14, 2002 – The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation elected Jack G. Caton, DDS. MS, to its board of directors at its annual meeting in New Orleans on September 23. Dr. Caton is a professor at the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center and a private periodontal practitioner in Rochester, New York.

Dr. Caton currently chairs the Gerald M. Bowers Endowment Fund for the American Board of Periodontology, a 5-year, $1.5 million campaign launched in 2001 by the AAPF. Dr. Caton also has served as president of the American Academy of Periodontology, director and chairman of the American Board of Periodontology, and director for the Monroe County Dental Society and the Seventh District Dental Society of New York.

He received his dental degree from the University of California in San Francisco, his certificate in advanced general dentistry from the U.S. Army, and his postdoctoral training certification from Eastman Dental Center.

The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation is dedicated to improving the periodontal health of the public by increasing public and professional awareness of periodontal diseases; stimulating and supporting clinical research and the generation of new knowledge; and enhancing educational programs and opportunities in periodontology. Periodontics is one of nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association.
