AAP Foundation Re-Elects Dr. Paul A. Levi, Jr., Secretary-Treasurer

CHICAGO, December 1, 2004 – The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation board of directors re-elected Paul A. Levi, Jr., DMD, to a second one-year term as secretary-treasurer at its annual meeting in Orlando last month. Dr. Levi had served on the Foundation's board of directors since 2001. Levi maintains a private practice in Burlington, Vermont and also teaches predoctoral and postdoctoral periodontal students at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

He previously was assistant chairman of the postdoctoral clinical program in periodontology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He taught both the predoctoral and postdoctoral students. In 2001, he was presented with the Clinical Faculty Teaching Award by the predoctoral Class of 2002.

Levi served on numerous committees for the American Academy of Periodontology and was on the Board of Trustees for six years. In 1998 he served on the advisory board of the AAP Foundation. He is also active in the American Dental Association, Vermont State Dental Society, Vermont Periodontal Association, Massachusetts Periodontal Society, and Champlain Valley Dental Society.

The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation is dedicated to improving the periodontal and general health of the public by increasing public and professional awareness of periodontal diseases; stimulating and supporting clinical research and the generation of new knowledge; and enhancing educational programs and opportunities in periodontology. Periodontics is one of nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association.
