AAP Foundation Re-Elects L.K. Croft President

The Foundation named L.K. Croft, D.D.S., to a second one-year term as president at its board of directors meeting.

CHICAGO – November 5, 2001 – The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation named L.K. Croft, D.D.S., to a second one-year term as president at its board of directors meeting October 5 in Philadelphia. Croft is clinical associate professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) Graduate Periodontics Program.

Croft joined the American Academy of Periodontology in 1965 and has held numerous offices since, including membership on the board of trustees, and the AAP Executive Committee. In 1994 he was named a member of the AAP Foundation advisory committee, and joined the Foundation's board of directors in 1996. Croft previously served as vice president of the AAP Foundation. He is also a past president of the Texas Society of Periodontists.

Croft maintained a private periodontal practice in Dallas, Texas, from 1967 to 1998. Prior to his position with UTHSCSA, he was clinical associate professor at Baylor College of Dentistry Graduate Periodontics Program, Dallas, Texas.

He received his B.S. from Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas, and his D.D.S. from University of Texas Dental Branch, Houston. He received his certificate in periodontics from the University of Kentucky, College of Dentistry, Lexington, Kentucky. He is diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a fellow in the American College of Dentistry and Academy of Dentistry International. In 1999, Croft received a Fellowship Award from the American Academy of Periodontology. In addition, Croft has published in numerous professional journals.

The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation is dedicated to improving the periodontal health of the public by increasing public and professional awareness of periodontal diseases; stimulating and supporting clinical research and the generation of new knowledge; and enhancing educational programs and opportunities in periodontology. Periodontics is one of nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association.
