AAP Foundation Elects Donald S. Clem III President

Dr. Clem previously served as vice-president of the Foundation for two terms and as secretary-treasurer before that.

CHICAGO – October 14, 2002 – The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation elected Donald S. Clem III, DDS, president at its board of directors meeting in New Orleans on September 23. Dr. Clem previously served as vice-president of the Foundation for two terms and as secretary-treasurer before that. He maintains a private practice in Fullerton, California, and is assistant professor at the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.

Dr. Clem is also a member of the Western Society of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the Orange County Dental Society, and the California Society of Periodontists, where he has served as president.

He has presented widely to academic and professional organizations. He has published in numerous journals and served on the editorial board of the Journal of Periodontology. Dr. Clem is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including a clinical research award from the American Academy of Periodontology and a Service Award for Contributions to Disabled People from the Rehabilitation Institute of Southern California (1998).

The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation is dedicated to improving the periodontal health of the public by increasing public and professional awareness of periodontal diseases; stimulating and supporting clinical research and the generation of new knowledge; and enhancing educational programs and opportunities in periodontology. Periodontics is one of nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association.
