AAP Foundation Elects Edward P. Allen President

Dr. Allen is a clinical professor of periodontics at Baylor University College of Dentistry and maintains a periodontal practice in Dallas, Texas.

CHICAGO—November 11, 2005—The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation elected Edward P. (“Pat”) Allen, DDS, PhD, as president at its board of directors meeting in Denver last month. Dr. Allen is a clinical professor of periodontics at Baylor University College of Dentistry and maintains a periodontal practice in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Allen received his DDS and completed a residency in periodontics at Baylor College of Dentistry (now part of the Texas A&M system). He earned a PhD in physiology from Baylor University Graduate School (Waco). In 1999 Dr. Allen received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Baylor College of Dentistry Periodontics Residency Program and in 2002 he was presented with the Master Clinician Award from the American Academy of Periodontology.

The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation is dedicated to improving the periodontal and general health of the public by increasing public and professional awareness of periodontal diseases; stimulating and supporting clinical research and the generation of new knowledge; and enhancing educational programs and opportunities in periodontology. Periodontics is one of nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association.
