AAP Foundation Elects Michael McGuire as Secretary-Treasurer

CHICAGO—November 14, 2005—The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation board of directors elected Michael McGuire, DDS, secretary-treasurer at its annual meeting in Denver last month. Dr. McGuire had served on the Foundation’s board of directors since 2003.

Dr. McGuire is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Periodontics at both the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He also maintains a full-time private practice in Houston.

Dr. McGuire is a past president of the American Academy of Periodontology and in 1997 the AAP presented him with its Clinical Research Award.

The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation is dedicated to improving the periodontal and general health of the public by increasing public and professional awareness of periodontal diseases; stimulating and supporting clinical research and the generation of new knowledge; and enhancing educational programs and opportunities in periodontology. Periodontics is one of nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association.
