CHICAGO, March 31, 2003 - The Bud and Linda Tarrson Fellowship fund of the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation hit the
Recognizing the importance of attracting the best and brightest scientific and clinical minds to careers in periodontal education, Bud and Linda Tarrson created the Fellowship in 1997. The first award was made in 1998. The Tarrson Fellowship was the first AAPF award to recognize and encourage young periodontal educators. The American Academy of Periodontology has identified the support of gifted teachers and researchers as a key focus of the specialty.
Tarrson, formerly CEO and chairman of the John O. Butler Company, died in 1999. “I am very happy that Bud was able to experience the pleasure of meeting the first Fellows,” says his widow, Linda Tarrson. “This was an experience that he deserved and I am very grateful that the Foundation was able to make it happen.” Tarrson Fellows are:

The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation is dedicated to improving the periodontal and general health of the public by increasing public and professional awareness of periodontal diseases; stimulating and supporting clinical research and the generation of new knowledge; and enhancing educational programs and opportunities in periodontology.
