AAP Teaching Fellowships

logo
AAP Teaching Fellowships were announced in 2005 and are made possible by a $1 million commitment from the American Academy of Periodontology.

Purpose

AAP Teaching Fellowships are intended to support the young periodontal educator's commitment to a career in academia by providing debt relief to qualified applicants. The $50,000 Fellowships are given to qualified faculty members within their first three years of teaching at a U.S. periodontal training institution. Funding for AAP Teaching Fellows is provided at the end of each year of full-time teaching. Applicants may apply for the AAP Fellowships for up to three years, as long as they maintain eligibility. The Fellowships also include a mentoring component that provides the academic and personal support so vital to full development as a periodontal educator.

Who is Eligible?

Applicants for AAP Teaching Fellowships must be in the first three years of full-time teaching (as defined by the institution) at a U.S. periodontal program or have accepted a full-time faculty position at a U.S. periodontal program. Application for the Fellowship may be made for a maximum of three years. Previous recipients of other AAP Foundation awards are eligible to apply for the Teaching Fellowships as well.
