2010 Innovations in Periodontics Abstract Submission Guidelines
Guidelines for submitting an abstract to present at the Annual Meeting in Honolulu, October 30–November 2, 2010.
About Innovations in Periodontics
There will be two Innovations in Periodontics sessions at the Annual Meeting. Each session will consist of four speakers addressing innovations and advances in clinical periodontics, basic sciences or related subjects. Each speaker will give a 15-minute presentation, followed by a 5-minute question-and-answer period.
NOTE: This is NOT a call for the Research Forum Poster session. Abstracts for the Research Forum may be submitted during the first quarter of 2010. Instructions regarding abstract submission will be posted on the Academy’s Web site at that time.
Annual Meeting Registration Required
Innovations in Periodontics presenters do not receive complimentary meeting registration from the Academy. Speakers must register for the meeting if they wish to present.
Abstract Submission Deadline
All abstracts must be submitted using the online AAP Abstract Manager starting August 3 and ending November 20, 2009.
Abstract Submission Procedure
- Abstracts submitted between August 3 and November 20, 2009, will be subjected to a blind review and scoring by members of the Continuing Education Oversight Committee (CEOC).
- Presenters will be informed of the committee's decision in February 2010.
- Presenters can submit as many abstracts as they would like. However, no one can present more than once.
- Abstracts must be submitted electronically using the AAP Abstract Manager.
Presenter Contact Information
When you submit your abstract online, you will be asked to enter the following contact information, which is not revealed to the CEO Committee but used solely by Academy staff to communicate with presenters:
- Your first and last names, designation(s) (DDS, DMD, etc.) and affiliations (include city, state and country as appropriate)
- Mailing address.
- Telephone and fax numbers (be sure to include country/city codes where appropriate)
- Current e-mail address
Abstract Content
The Absract Manager will ask for the following information about your presentation:
- The title, which should be 10 words or fewer and should not include brand names or acronyms.
- Why this presentation is innovative.
- How your presentation impacts practicing periodontists.
- If the presentation is clinical or research-oriented.
- The topic(s) it covers:
Implants
Interdisciplinary Therapy (ortho, endo, restorative)
Periodontal Plastic/Oral Reconstructive Surgery
Periodontal-Systemic Relationships
Practice Development and Management
Treatment of Inflammatory Periodontal Diseases
Regeneration/Tissue Engineering
What you enter should
not include:
- Illustrations, photos, tables, charts or columns
- Product brand names
- Names of manufacturers
