Dr. Pierpaolo Cortellini graduated in Florence and received his specialty in dentistry from the University of Siena. A former teacher of periodontology at the Eastman Dental College, London UK, and the department of periodontology of Berne, CH, Dr. Cortellini is also a founding member of ATRO and ERGOPERIO. A past president of the Italian Society of Periodontology, European Federation of Periodontology and Scientific Chairman of Europerio 6, Dr. Cortellini runs a private practice in Florence. He has been involved in clinical research in periodontology since 1982, with special emphasis on periodontal regeneration, aesthetics and diagnosis. He lectures extensively on a national and international level, and is the author of more than 100 original publications in scientific journals.
Dr. Michael K. McGuire is the author of over fifty scientific articles and textbook chapters on periodontology. He serves on the editorial board of multiple publications, including the Journal of Periodontology, International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, and International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants. An eminent speaker, having presented over 200 continuing education programs, Dr. McGuire has lectured for both national and international audiences. His research has received the American Academy of Periodontology’s highest recognition for excellence, earning twice the Robinson Regeneration Award and twice the Clinical Research Award. He is also the recipient of the Academy’s prestigious Master Clinician Award and the Academy’s highest honor, the Gold Medal Award.

This lecture is a clinically-oriented, scientifically-sound presentation with the objective of discussing a stepby- step approach to optimize the incorporation of periodontal regeneration into a comprehensive treatment plan. Special emphasis will be given to diagnosis, indications, surgical techniques and patient management; functional and aesthetic implications will also be carefully explored. Long-term outcomes of periodontal regeneration will be evaluated. Educational Objectives:
