Tips for Finding an AAP Volunteer Speaker

The purpose of the Speaker Program is to assist an individual or group in finding an American Academy of Periodontology member who is willing to speak at their function.

About the Volunteer Speaker Program

Members who volunteer their speaking services are not endorsed or recommended by the Academy; rather they have identified themselves as willing and able to speak on particular topics. Although they are not official Academy representatives, it is our expectation that, as AAP members, volunteer speakers will take this responsibility seriously and assess their own skills, expertise and presentation materials before volunteering to speak on a specific topic.

Volunteers are not making a commitment that they will accept every speaking engagement – only that they are qualified and will consider the engagement based on their availability and a mutual agreement with the party seeking a speaker regarding the topic and details.

Members wishing to volunteer for the speaker program select topics they feel qualified to speak on, as well as audiences to which that they feel comfortable presenting. Parties seeking volunteer speakers can search the speaker database by geographic preference, presentation topic(s), type of audience, or any combination of those parameters.

It is ultimately the responsibility of the individual seeking a speaker and the potential speaker to determine the details of the speaking engagement.
