Since launching in 2017, the Leadership, Engagement, Action, and Development (LEAD) Program has welcomed over 70 member participants, with each member receiving an experience like no other! The exclusive two-day program is designed to identify future leaders in periodontics, cultivate the necessary skills to ensure success, and inspire a commitment to advance the profession.
One participant described the program as, “The best event I’ve attended in my professional career to date.”
Past topics covered include opportunities within organized dentistry; clinical, practice, and scientific leadership; effective community outreach, and professional relationship development.
To be eligible for the LEAD Program, nominees must:
- Be an Active AAP member in good standing who has been in practice less than 10 years
- Have demonstrated a previous aptitude for leadership during residency, within periodontal practice, or in another setting
- Have shown an interest in playing a role in moving the specialty forward through clinical, scientific, or organizational leadership
This year’s program is scheduled for Sept. 22-24, 2023, in Chicago. Air travel, hotel accommodations, ground transportation, and meals will be provided for selected participants.
We are no longer accepting nominations for the 2023 program

75% of LEAD participants agree, “The knowledge I gained from participating in the LEAD Program has significantly propelled my career forward.”

100% of past discussion leaders agree, “The LEAD Program is contributing to the development of the next generation of periodontal leaders.”
