Volunteer Appointments

The AAP relies on its Active and Life Active members to volunteer for a variety of roles, such as serving on committees or task forces, volunteering as an ad hoc content expert, or participating in surveys, opinion polls and focus groups. Volunteers are matched with a role that best suits their interests and experience. Interested members should complete a Volunteer Application to be considered. Volunteer applications are due April 30, In-Service Examination Committee applications are due February 28. Committee and task force appointments will be announced following the August Board of Trustees meeting and will go into effect immediately following the Annual Meeting.

AAP Elections

The following positions are elected by AAP Active and Life Active members:

  • Secretary/Treasurer
  • District Trustee
  • American Board of Periodontology Director
  • Members of the Officer Nominating Committee
  • Members of the Nominating Committee for the American Board of Periodontology

The candidate campaign period runs from January 1 through June 30.

AAP Awards

The AAP recognizes members for a variety of accomplishments through several prestigious awards. AAP awards are distributed at the Annual Meeting.
